“Between Us” will World Premiere at Oldenburg Film Festival

Julia Stiles, Taye Diggs, Melissa George, David Harbour Star in Mirvish’s New Film

Culver City, CA — The Oldenburg Film Festival – widely regarded as the “Sundance of German film festivals” – today announced it will screen the World Premiere of “Between Us,” Slamdance Co-founder Dan Mirvish’s new film that stars Julia Stiles, Melissa George, Taye Diggs and David Harbour. “Between Us” is a darkly comic drama based on the hit Off-Broadway play by Joe Hortua. The Oldenburg Film Festival runs from September 12 – 16.

“Oldenburg is an amazing festival and I’m very pleased to kick off our international fall festival tour by premiering there,” said Mirvish, who directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with playwright Joe Hortua. “All four of these actors deliver searing, powerhouse performances, and I’m very excited to see the audience reaction.”

“Between Us” is a dark ensemble comedy exploring the bittersweet friendship between two couples who meet as old friends and discover their lives are tarnished by money, sex, success and children. In addition to Mirvish, it was produced by Hans Ritter (”Hello, I Must Be Going,” “Sound of My Voice”) and Mike S. Ryan (”The Comedy”, “Junebug”). The cinematographer was Nancy Schreiber, ASC, and the movie was edited by Dean Gonzalez.

Julia Stiles is a Golden Globe nominee for Showtime’s “Dexter,” and has starred in the first three “Bourne” movies, “10 Things I Hate About You,” “Hamlet,” “State and Main,” “The Business of Strangers,” and “O.” She also stars in the upcoming Oscilliscope release “It’s a Disaster” (which was also lensed by Schreiber).

Melissa George received a Golden Globe nomination for “In Treatment.” George is set to star in the upcoming BBC and HBO/Cinemax limited series “Hunted” this fall. Recently, she starred in the films “Triangle”, “Swinging with the Finkels” and “A Lonely Place to Die.” Her other TV work includes roles on “Alias” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” She’s starred in the features “30 Days of Night,” “Turistas,” “The Limey” and “Mulholland Drive.”

Taye Diggs, winner of two Image awards for “Kevin Hill” and “Private Practice” and a SAG Award for Best Ensemble for “Chicago,” may currently be seen as Dr. Sam Bennett on ABC’s “Private Practice.” He was an original cast member in the hit musical “RENT,” and went on to star in the film version. Other film credits include: “Chicago,” “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” “Brown Sugar” and “The Best Man.” This Fall, Diggs’ first children’s book entitled “Chocolate Me” will be published by Macmillan.

David Harbour was nominated for a Tony for the revival of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” and starred in the original Off-Broadway version of “Between Us.” He can currently be seen on Aaron Sorkin’s “The Newsroom” on HBO, and is about to costar with Al Pacino in the Broadway revival of “Glengarry Glen Ross.” He also appeared in a Broadway run of “Merchant of Venice” and costarred in many films including “The Green Hornet,” “Revolutionary Road” and “Quantum of Solace.”

The Oldenburg Film Festival in northern Germany is going into its 19th year. Screenings of “Between Us” will be on September 13 at 8pm at the Casablanca Theatre, and September 15 at 5:30pm at the CinemaxX8. Director Dan Mirvish will be in attendance at the screenings and throughout the festival.
